Art of the Cover - Violent Femmes' "Memory" (2016)

The erm ... idiosyncratic cover art here was created by Barenaked Ladies' Kevin Hearn, who also contributed accordion, guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals on several tracks on  "We Can Do Anything" - the album from which this fine single was taken..

Man, I really want to try whatever meds Kevin is on!!

Yes kids, those Violent bitches are back!

It’s been 16 years since the legends released a full-length studio album of new songs, but that’s about to change with their upcoming album, We Can Do Anything.

Gordon Gano spoke with NPR about the song’s history of “Memory”  - the band’s first single from the new LP:
We even recorded it as a demo many years ago… And then it was forgotten about until digging into [our] archives, which led us to record it anew and release it.
The song again showcases the band’s signature sound, as duelling acoustic strumming and melodic riffs play out against Gano’s catchy and unique vocal delivery.
