Art of the Cover - Protomartyr & R. Ring's "A Half Of Seven" (2014)

A Half of Seven cover art

A kind of dog's dinner of a cover .... perhaps!

Idiosyncratic like the great tracks on here.

Yap, the mighty Protomartyr return with a brand new track recorded at Candyland in Cincinnati with the duo of Mike Montgomery plus Kelley Deal (aka R. Ring).

Following a triumphant 2014, “Blues Festival” is the first new material from Protomartyr following their critically acclaimed LP, Under Color of Official Right.

“Blues Festival” is a relentless, propulsive and occasionally pissed off tirade about band life bummers that weighs fact against philosophy.  you know, stuff like what is hell? ... what should you not do?

Tune in as singer Joe Casey in his own unique manner, erm ...  barks through a few of these universal truths!

“Blues Fesival” also features guest vocals by Kelley Deal (erstwhile member of The Breeders as well as member of R. Ring).

The duo of R. Ring also contribute a fine track – again, recorded at Candyland – titled “Loud Underneath”.

Both tracks are available as a limited 7” pressing.

A Protomartyr - Blues Festival
