Art of the Cover - Robert Forster's "Drop" (1992)

A rather idiosyncratic and enigmatic piece of cover artwork here - as one might expect from Forster!

And why is a lonley Bob holding those things on the back cover?

Photography is by Peter Fischmann.

Yap, it's the lovely "Drop" EP - a rare, early, solo release here from Robert Forster - founder of the legendary Go-Betweens - made available only in the UK.

The songs were recorded in  Brisbane's Sunshine Studios in mid 1992.

The song Brookfield 1975 is only available here on this format, while Baby Stones appears on Forster's fine debut solo album Danger in The Past. MeanwhileDrop and Falling Start are from Robert's - then unreleased - sublime, sophomore collection Calling From A Country Phone.

Robert releases his long awaited new solo album, Songs to Play, on September 18, 2015 via Tapete Records.

It's Robert's first album since 2008's The Evangelist - a mighty piece of work which came during a very difficult personal time for Robert, after the then recent death of his long-time Go-Betweens partner and friend Grant McLennan. It's Robert's first album since 2008's The Evangelist - a mighty collection which came during a very difficult personal time for Robert, after the then recent death of his long-time Go-Betweens partner and friend Grant McLennan.
