Art of the Cover - The Last Shadow Puppets' "Standing Next To Me EP" (2008)

It’s the fame which put words in her mouth

 Yap ... kinda like it!!

The gorgeous cover shot for this sine single features a photo of a beautiful model named Gill, shot by Sam Haskins in 1962.

Artwork design was by Matthew Cooper. Portrait photography was by Deidre O' Callahan

Another wonderful shot of Gill appears on the cover to the band's "The Age of the Understatement" LP.

Yap, it's "Standing Next To Me", the lead single from the wonderful debut collection "The Age of the Understatement" from The Last Shadow Puppets, a fine 'offshoot project' involving  Alex Turner of  Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane of The Rascals along with composer/producer James Ford.

"The Age of the Understatement" is a fine collection indeed, calling to mind eclectic great influences ranging from early Beatles to Burt Bacharach to solo Scott Walker to Scott hero, Jacques Brel to Dusty Springfield to David Bowie.

The album was nominated for the prestigious 2008 Mercury Music Prize.
