The Song - Butthole Surfers' "I Love you Peggy"

You've got that snotty little grin and your husband is dead, so put on your mini-skirt, Peggy, let me see your long black legs!

Just your run of the mill  -and incredibly sane - love song from the Butthole boys.

A postmodern tribute to Peggy Sue perhaps, this demented ditty's a testosterone and drug fuelled, obsessive ode to a long-legged, newly widowed, black chick from an over-zealous protagonist who loves black babes almost as much as De Niro does!

"When I see your pretty brown skin, it makes me want to sin. Why won't you let me in, oh Peggy?" ... indeed!

Yap, this is what a crack-addicted, Buddy Holly - with backing from a junked-up Joy Division along with an addled Jello Biafra - would've sounded like!

The delightful ditty was recorded in 1985 during the sessions for "Rembrandt Pussyhorse" and saw light of day in the "Humpty Dumpty LSD" collection (a thing which really had some shining gems scattered among the flotsam and jetsam) back in 2002.

Butthole Surfers - I Love You Peggy
Live 19.12.1981

If that's not raw sounding enough, get a load of this more extreme version from 1981 -  a very early live recording of the song at Studio 29 in Austin Texas.

There are also one or two (well, definitely two!) things that really caught my attention in the visuals accompanying this!
