The Music - The Replacements blast out "Alex Chilton" on ‘Fallon Show’

I never travel far without a little 'Big Star'

Paul Westerberg and the legendary Replacements blast out a great live version of “Alex Chilton” on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”, Tuesday night.

The Replacements' mighty love song to music and paean to musical heroes Alex Chilton and the seminal Big Star was released a  single back in 1987.

Children by the million sing for Alex Chilton when he comes around; they sing "I'm in love. What's that song?" ... indeed!

The song also appeared on their glorious album Pleased to Meet Me that same year. Chilton actually appeared as a guest on that LP, playing guitar on the wonderful "Can't Hardly Wait".

Captain Jack Sparrow's daddy - else some guy called Keith Richards (can't tell which!) - was on the show that night too (pic above) but, sadly, didn’t join in!
