Art of the Cover - Graham Parker's "The Mona Lisa's Sister" (1988)

Wonderful artwork. Amazing album.

The cover painting was by Jack Drummond.

Design was by Laurence Stevens and photography by Jolie Parker.

"The Mona Lisa's Sister" was Parker's first album for RCA following an acrimonious split with Atlantic and the first he produced himself (with Rumour bandmate Brinsley Schwarz).

Replete with a stunning cover of Sam Cooke's "Cupid", the "stripped-down" album garnered great critical acclaim and presaged a back-to-basics trend in rock music in the 1990s.

"The Mona Lisa's Sister" was ranked #97 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 best albums of the 1980s

"Don't Let It Break You Down" – 3:34
"Under the Mask of Happiness" – 3:34
