Art of the Cover - David J's "An Eclipse of Ships" (2014)

Seems David J's place is haunted by the ghost of a burlesque stripper.

Yap, it's the former bassist of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets and his Kickstarter-funded solo album, An Eclipse of Ships.

An album that kicks off with a super sleazy cover of Britney Spears’ 2003 smash single “Toxic”! Check the interesting vid here featuring porn ho Sasha Grey displaying her talents!

The LP is available in 180 gram vinyl replete with black sleeve, poster and lyric sheet.

Davy’s described the LP as “a journal of the heart and a paean to Woman as muse.”

According to the blurb, ‘An Eclipse of Ships’, is essentially a journal of the heart and a paean to women.

It goes on ...
This new work sees a return in style to earlier mainly acoustic records such as ‘Songs From Another Season’ and ‘Crocodile Tears and The Velvet Cosh’ and features a stellar group of musicians making sweet love to various instruments including stand-up bass, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, acoustic piano, violin, viola, oboe, mandolin, pedal steel, acoustic guitar, slide guitar and percussion.

This album is David J’s ninth solo effort, following up 2011′s Not Long For this World.

David's solo debut, Etiquette of Violence, has also been reissued in an expanded 2CD set.

He also released a re-recorded version of Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”.

Recently, David joined the band Stellarum, which has released a cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” and is working on a full album of original material that’s expected out soon.
