However, two years on the pair are still fighting over parenting rights leading the situation to become acrimonious - so much so that Elson has sought and gained a restraining order against White.
The Oldham-born model applied for the order in her hometown of Nashville, where she has lived since marrying White in 2005, citing "fears for her and the children's safety as a result of [White's] harassment" and claiming that White is not fit to be a parent.
White is said to have contacted Elson's legal representative "in an inappropriate and aggressive manner", reports Nashville's The City Paper. Furthermore, he is accused of contacting their shared business manager and making derogatory comments about Elson in order to "harass and embarrass" her.
"This pattern of husband's bullying wife into submission was a contributing factor in the demise of their marriage," reads the affidavit.
When contacted by celebrity news outlet Eonline.com , Elson said: "This is a private matter. I thank you for respecting my family's privacy and will be making no further comment." White's representative declined to comment.
As a result of the restraining order served against White on July 22, he is now prevented from having "any contact with wife whatsoever except as it relates to parenting time with the parties' minor children", and is only allowed to contact Elson via email.
Just a few months ago Elson told Harper's Bazaar that the divorce had been "awful" and "emotional" but reaffirmed that she and White remained friends.
"You have a responsibility to your children. It's not like splitting up with a boyfriend in your Twenties," she said. "You are breaking up with a whole life. It's not an easy process. But you've got to be friends, there is no choice."
