Art of the Cover - Butthole Surfers' "Humpty Dumpty LSD" (2002)

Typically fucked-up, wonderful artwork adorns this fine compilation album.

"Humpty Dumpty LSD" contains a wide assortment of demos, unreleased studio tracks and songs originally released on compilations, recorded between 1982 and 1994.

Most notably, it contains outtakes from the 1985 sessions for Butthole Surfers' Rembrandt Pussyhorse studio album.

Some tracks are unfinished songs; for example, "Day of the Dying Alive" was later reworked as "Jimi," while the vinyl-only song "Sherman" is an alternative version of "Backass," both of which are on Hairway to Steven.

As well as the classic "I Love You Peggy", the album contains a cover of  The 13th Floor Elevators' "Earthquake" as well as "All Day", which features the legendary maverick Daniel Johnston on guest vocals.
