I try not to dream but these possible schemes, swim around, wanna drown me in synch. And I don't know how, to slow it down. Oh my mind's racing from chasing pirates.
Y'arrr!! Here be gorgeous wench Norah Shankar - daughter of Indian sitar abuser Ravi Shankar, the guy who broke up Ye Beatles!! - with her new ditty about sea-farin' pirates like me ... yarrrrr!!!

A few years yonder, dark complexioned this wench be, but suddenly now white as a pail of milk she be. And a different nose and other facial features too she do seem to be havin' now ... yarrr!
Maybe tis daughter of renowned freak Whacko Jacko she really be!
Yarrr ... modern science and silly-cone surely damned strange things do be!!

Ahem! Ahem! .... Anyway, I'd heard this ditty in passing a few times, and, strangely, kinda liked it.
At first, without knowing the song's title, I thought the key line here went "My mind’s racing from chasing Heartaches" .... which actually sounded very poetic!
However, instead Jones, for some reason, is referring to "Pirates"! Guess she's been watching the "Pirates of the Caribbean " trilogy way too much!!

“Chasing Pirates” is the lead single from Jones’ new album The Fall, which will be released by EMI’s Blue Note Records on November 17.
The accompanying blurb goes .....
“Chasing Pirates,” which was featured on Rolling Stone’s “Hot List,” immediately announces a new direction for Jones. Entertainment Weekly wrote that “’Chasing Pirates’ is a bluesy surprise and welcome change of pace,” adding that “Jones’ voice remains as lovely as ever.”
“For this record, I just had a sound in my head,” Jones says. “I wanted the grooves to be more present and heavy. And I also just wanted to do something different.” That new sound began to present itself on one of the first songs Jones wrote for the project. “About a year ago, I did some demos in my home studio,” she says. “I had some friends come in and we figured out a cool arrangement for ‘Chasing Pirates,’ with a cool drum part. It went somewhere I didn’t expect it to go, and that became a direction to look in.”

The Fall finds Jones experimenting with a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, and Modest Mouse among others. Jones enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River ’s Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partner Jesse Harris.
King also helped Jones put together a new group of musicians to perform on the album, including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).
The video, which was shot in Jones’ hometown of New York City , was directed by Rich Lee, who has worked on the visual effects for all three of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.Lee has also directed music videos by so-called artists Fergie (“Clumsy”) and Michael Buble (“Haven’t Met You Yet”).
Why do I start seguing into The Stones' ‘Miss You’ after hearing this ditty ?!!
